Brew-tiful day for an Ice Tea

Posted by Zaynin Kanji on 4th Jul 2017

While Hario might be synonymous with specialty coffee, there is a large range of specialty tea equipment on offer to satisfy tea lovers, and with the summer months comes thoughts of leisurely alfresco drinks. Introducing the Hario Cold Brew filter bottle for tea.

When brewed in cold water and left to steep overnight, the rich umami properties of the chosen tea leaves - be it green, white or black - are gently extracted and what is left is a delicately balanced drink rich in antioxidants, theanine and significantly less tannins compared to hot-brewing. Tannins are a type of polyphenol, an antioxidant compound in tea leaves that imparts an astringent taste to the tea. Fewer tannins result in a smoother, sweeter tea.

How to Brew:

Brewing cold tea couldn’t be easier. Put 20g of your chosen tea leaves inside the Hario cold brew bottle and pour fresh filtered water over it. Place in the refrigerator for at least 3 - 6 hours. Serve over ice and enjoy. Simple!
